St Stephens School Breakfast and After School Clubs aim to provide pupils of all ages with a safe and fun place before and after normal school hours. The Club is open to all pupils and we will do our best to accommodate the needs of your child.
The club is informal and friendly, allowing children a choice of activities: some children like to relax, whilst others prefer more physical activities. The club provides for both, quiet space (for reading, etc.) and a free play area, as well as more structured activities. Play, rather than education, is at the heart of this club.
Registering with Breakfast & After School Club
An initial Registration & booking form MUST be completed before any child attends breakfast and after school club. Registration forms are available from the school office, the school website or from a club leader (also at the end of this booklet). Further bookings can be made by email to email@example.com and paying in advance via Parentpay. You will need to advise us of any amendments to your original registration form.
Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. All sessions must be booked by email to firstname.lastname@example.org and paid for in advance via Parentpay. If you don’t have an account, please visit the school office who can help you set one up. The school no longer accept cash or cheques – if you need to pay by cash, you can do so at the Spar Shop via the Paypoint.
Regular sessions can be booked up to a half term in advance.
24 hours’ notice for all bookings is required. Ad-hoc sessions may be available but are not guaranteed (we will email confirmation to you).
No refunds can be made for missed sessions unless 24 hours notice has been given. We reserve the right to refuse further bookings if your fees are not paid.
If you need to alter your regular booking during the half term, please advise us in writing (either by email or booking form, highlighting that it’s an amendment).
Breakfast Club - £3.00 per session
After School Club - £8.00 per session 3.15pm - 5pm
After School Club - £10 per session 3.15pm - 6pm
Price includes a choice of breakfast/snacks and fun activities. The cost does not change depending on the time you arrive or if you choose not to have food with us. (Subsidies may be available for pupils from lower income families – please enquire at the school office for further details).
Breakfast Club 7.30am to 8.30am
After School Club 3.15pm to 6.00pm
Every weekday during term time (excluding Inset days).
Please note that breakfast is served until 8.15am. Please ensure your child arrives in plenty of time if you want them to eat with us. At 8.30am, children attending breakfast club will join the rest of the children on the main playground.
Signing In Arrangements
It is vital that children attending Breakfast Club are signed in at the main entrance. Children in Reception, Year 1, 2 and must be signed in by their parents, whereas children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 can sign themselves in, unless we are notified otherwise by parents. Children attending After School Club will be directed straight from their classes at the end of the day, and will be registered by the club leader.
Collecting Pupils from After School Club
Please report to the school office to collect children.
Mrs Da Silva will have the school mobile with her throughout the session – the telephone number is 07541 541548. An additional charge of £10.00 is payable if children are NOT collected by the time slot booked.
You must inform us if your child is not attending the club, including through illness, by sending us an email or leaving a message on the school answerphone.
If you want to cancel a session that your child is booked for please let us know as soon as you can, so that the places can be offered to other children. Please note that refunds are only available if 24 hours’ notice has been given.
All food and drink provided will be healthy, in line with our Heathly Schools Policy.
Parents are asked to inform us via the booking form of any food intolerances and allergies. We will cater for any special diets where possible. Children will be encouraged to actively participate in food preparation where appropriate.
Each morning, our amazing school cook provides a nutritious breakfast. The children are encouraged to help themselves, sit down and talk together, and help to clear up: the idea is that our breakfast replicates as far as possible the atmosphere of a family meal. At the end of the session, the children are well fed, happy and ready to learn.
Breakfast is served from 07.30 – 08.15 each morning.
The Breakfast Club is run by three breakfast club supervisors, on a rota basis (Mrs Smyth, Mrs Da Silva & Miss Palmer). All are DBS checked and hold appropriate qualifications in first aid and food hygiene.
The after school club is run by Mrs Da Silva and assisted by Miss Palmer (other members of staff are on site for the duration of the club).
We aim for each child to be happy and comfortable at the breakfast/after school club. You can help us by providing as much information as possible about their likes/dislikes on their registration form.
Any information relevant to a particular day can be discussed briefly at drop-off. If you have any more detailed issues that you would like to discuss with club staff, then you can arrange a mutually convenient time for a telephone call or short meeting outside of club operation times.
As you will appreciate, the club leaders have several children to look after and cannot pass individual messages on to class teachers. If there is something that the class teacher needs to know, then please write a note or call the school office.
We expect the same high standards of good behaviour as during the school day, in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy. Any issues will be brought to the parents’ attention by the club leader. In the unlikely event that issues cannot be resolved the child may, at the discretion of the governing body, be asked to leave the club.
